Summer is here and Carton Council is pleased to be heading to New Hampshire for the 30th Annual Northeast Recycling Conference & Expo.
Katy Duggan-Haas will be representing the Carton Council as a conference silver sponsor and exhibitor at this year’s conference. Katy is dedicated to increasing awareness of and access to carton recycling. She will be presenting on this topic at 11am on June 7th. Stop by her session to learn more about adding carton recycling to your area. Marty Seaman and Katy Duggan-Haas recently enjoyed the beauty of Lake George at the recent Federation of New York Solid Waste Association’s Solid Waste & Recycling Conference and Trade Show at The Sagamore. Conferences are in full swing for the Carton Council this month as we pack up and head East to Virginia Beach, where the Virginia Recycling Association is hosting its annual conference. Carton Council will be making its New York debut at the Federation of New York Solid Waste Association Solid Waste & Recycling Conference in Buffalo, NY this week. Starting on Monday, the NY Federation Conference will welcome 460 attendees at the Sagamore Resort to enjoy multiple networking opportunities, group outings, and a great variety of speakers and industry leaders sharing ideas about the future of recycling in New York. Boston, MA – Boston is known as the home of the Red Sox, the name sake of cream pie and baked beans, and for the historical site of events during the Revolutionary War like the Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere’s ride through the streets. A city with such a rich history was the perfect place to host the 2010 SWANA WasteCon Conference and Exhibition.
WasteCon ran from Sunday August, 15, 2010 to Tuesday August 17, 2010. WasteCon is a mega conference for waste and recycling professionals. Baltimore, MD – With participation at the BioCycle West Coast Conference, the Michigan Composting Council Conference, and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Resource Conservation Challenge, RRS Principal Nicole Chardoul has been one busy lady. She has racked up many frequent flier miles in her quest to education fellow environmental professionals on the benefits, challenges, and ultimate rewards of food waste and composting. Not just an expert in composting but also recycling and resource management, Nicole will continue her spring of travel by attending Clean Med 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland on May 13th where she will present a poster on “measuring financial and environmental benefits from healthcare recycling programs.” Read the whole story…

Westborough, MA – The Boston area is already home to many universities including Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Boston College. On April 6, 2010, the community added another type of university; the University of Resource Management (URM). URM is a one day recycling coordinator training conference hosted by the Massachusetts Recycling Coalition (MassRecycle) in combination with the tenth annual Organics Summit that is being held on April 7, 2010. Ann Arbor, MI – Boston is going to be hot, hot, hot this August. Not only will the temperatures be high, but swarms of solid waste and recycling professionals will be making their way to the Boston Convention Center for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) WasteCon conference. The 2010 conference will host over 200 education sessions and 600 vendors in a 125,000 square foot exhibit hall. The air will be sizzling.
RRS is thrilled to have 3 members of our staff speaking at WasteCon this year. Principals Jim Frey and JD Lindeberg as well as Project Consultant Anna Collinson will be taking to the microphone and podium in three different technical tracks. JD will be speaking on August 14th on how carbon offsets enable household organics recovery programs to get off the ground. Jim will be speaking on August 15th on enterprise funds and sustainable solid waste management systems. Anna will be speaking on August 16th on conversion technologies, recycling and carbon management.
Look for more information on these speaking sessions as August and WasteCon gets closer.
