Last Saturday, November 5th,  Illinois Recycling Association hosted their 3rd Annual America Recycles Day “Recycling Heroes Gala” at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, IL.  This event celebrated organizations and individuals that have had a significant impact on recycling and sustainability in Illinois.  The event featured a Cocktail Hour and Silent Auction Reception on the patio of the Fox River Room, as well as musical entertainment provided by Jack Kaufman and Steve Sharp, and Dinner.  Frank Locantore of Green America gave the key note address.  Tish Powell, Councilwoman for the City of Elgin, gave a very upbeat and informative presentation on Elgin’s green programs and accomplishments in reducing waste. Indianapolis, IN — The Indiana Recycling Coalition has a lot in which to be proud.  On Saturday, November 7, 2009 they celebrated 20 years of recycling advocacy in Indiana. Holding a formal gala at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, members, staff, and sponsors enjoyed dinner and cocktails while discussing the future agenda of the Coalition and recent legislative success.
