RRS Trains Michigan Composters Today

The Michigan Recycling Coalition (MRC) is hosting their annual Michigan Compost Operator Training Program today, March 29 in the Surplus and Recycling Education Center at Michigan State University.  The training program is designed to provide managers and operators of large scale compost sites with information, tools and training needed to manage a successful operation in Michigan.

The program originally developed through a state grant by RRS for the MRC, has been ongoing through the State for over ten years by the MRC.  The program covers the basic biology of composting, marketing and financing end materials as well as composting rules/regulations and troubleshooting issues.  The training will focus on the State’s new rules and regulations as they relate to composting and all attendees will receive a training manual. Enjoying a Recycling Renaissance at the MRC

Detroit, MI –After months of traveling to other states for conferences, RRS is pleased to be attending the Michigan Recycling Coalition’s (MRC) annual conference in our own backyard.  The “Recycling Renaissance” conference is being held at the beautiful Renaissance Center in Detroit Sunday May16th thru Wednesday May 19th.

Conference attendees will have a wide range of activities, plenary sessions and educational sessions from which to choose.  Top activities include a tour of the new Great Lakes Recycling single stream facility in New Boston, Michigan, tour of the Greater Detroit Resource Recovery Facility, Master Business Recycler training, Ford Rouge Plant tour and a good old Detroit Tigers baseball game.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Detroit, MI –On May, 17, 2010, America’s past time and recycling will combine as RRS hosts a special ‘home game’ event for the members of the Michigan Recycling Coalition(MRC) at Comerica Park as the Detroit Tigers take on the Chicago White Sox.   The game will be in conjunction with the MRC’s 29th annual conference. Not Just Fool’s Gold

Lansing, MI—  Want to turn your garbage into gold? MRC’s Fall Into Recycling Focuses on Landfill Bill

Novi, MI — On November 19, 2009, the Michigan Recycling Coalition (MRC) held its annual legislative and policy workshop to discuss pending Michigan House and Senate bills aiming to reverse the State’s yard waste landfill ban.  The workshop provided an overview of the proposed bill, electricity generation from methane gas collection technology and concluded with a panel discussion on the pros and cons of reintroducing yard waste in landfills in which our Principal JD Lindeberg participated.   Read the whole story…
