It’s the beginning of the 2012 conference season and RRS is gearing up for one fantastic year. We are pleased to announce that our annual debut will be at the United States Composting Council (USCC) Annual Conference & Tradeshow this week – the USCC is not only a wonderful organization, but one that is near and dear to our hearts. Nicole Chardoul and JD Lindeberg are both long-time members of the USCC and well-known throughout the industry for their dedication and excellence in the composting community.

Hospitals face growing operational challenges as they balance the delivery of excellent health care services with a changing economy, tight regulations and large volumes of waste requiring proper management. Since hospitals pay for waste in three different ways – when they purchase materials, handle these materials and then dispose of these materials – best practices in waste reduction and management are essential to keep operational costs real and manageable. A resource management system can help hospitals effectively implement high-impact yet simple waste reduction best practices while also allowing for the planning and implementation of more complex or expensive initiatives. A resource management system can provide a model and framework for implementation of these best practices that ensures program visibility, waste volume reduction and regulatory compliance. Resource Recycling Systems is excited to make their first trip to the Healthcare Development Conference this week in Chicago. The conference will be hosted at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel from October 25th to October 28th. This is the only the second time this conference is being held. On Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 2:00pm – 3:30pm EST, Practice Greenhealth hosted a webinar as part of the “Green Operations Series” featuring RRS’s Nicole Chardoul, PE, and Henry Ford Hospital’s Environmental Manager Cathy Semer. Nicole and Cathy discussed “10 Steps to Standardizing Waste & Recycling Procedures in a Large Health System.” Both Nicole and Cathy have been working on the Henry Ford Hospital’s environmental program for years.

We have been enjoying a full week of conferences all around the country. It has been great to meet and talk with so many about waste reduction issues, biomass energy and carton recycling opportunities.
Both the Carton Council and RRS were proud sponsors of the Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC) conference this week in Indianapolis. The Carton Council was honored to be a bronze sponsor while RRS was the carbon offset sponsor. The two-day conference has been complete with a brewery tour, silent auction, exhibiting and RRS speakers featured in two breakout sessions. Read the whole story…

The Michigan Recycling Coalition (MRC) is hosting their annual Michigan Compost Operator Training Program today, March 29 in the Surplus and Recycling Education Center at Michigan State University. The training program is designed to provide managers and operators of large scale compost sites with information, tools and training needed to manage a successful operation in Michigan.
The program originally developed through a state grant by RRS for the MRC, has been ongoing through the State for over ten years by the MRC. The program covers the basic biology of composting, marketing and financing end materials as well as composting rules/regulations and troubleshooting issues. The training will focus on the State’s new rules and regulations as they relate to composting and all attendees will receive a training manual. Read the whole story…

Detroit, MI –After months of traveling to other states for conferences, RRS is pleased to be attending the Michigan Recycling Coalition’s (MRC) annual conference in our own backyard. The “Recycling Renaissance” conference is being held at the beautiful Renaissance Center in Detroit Sunday May16th thru Wednesday May 19th.
Conference attendees will have a wide range of activities, plenary sessions and educational sessions from which to choose. Top activities include a tour of the new Great Lakes Recycling single stream facility in New Boston, Michigan, tour of the Greater Detroit Resource Recovery Facility, Master Business Recycler training, Ford Rouge Plant tour and a good old Detroit Tigers baseball game.

Baltimore, MD – With participation at the BioCycle West Coast Conference, the Michigan Composting Council Conference, and the Environmental Protection Agency’s Resource Conservation Challenge, RRS Principal Nicole Chardoul has been one busy lady. She has racked up many frequent flier miles in her quest to education fellow environmental professionals on the benefits, challenges, and ultimate rewards of food waste and composting. Not just an expert in composting but also recycling and resource management, Nicole will continue her spring of travel by attending Clean Med 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland on May 13th where she will present a poster on “measuring financial and environmental benefits from healthcare recycling programs.” Read the whole story…
